AFS MOUNTAINEERING

3 Day Welsh 3000s

3-Day Welsh 3000s - Snowdonia

Saturday 23rd - Monday 25th May 2020

ABOUT THE TRIP

Snowdonia boasts and amazing array of landscapes and geology in a relatively small area. Rising out of the sea it can be seen from the relatively flat island of Anglessea as a dark brooding barrier to the mainland.

The Welsh 3,000s are a spectacular challenge to undertake. From the knife-edge ridge of Crib Goch, the boulder field of the Glydders to the grassy far Carneddau, it has it all.

The usual challenge is to complete the whole route in 24h. However we'll tackle the three main groupings over three days - Snowdon Massif, Glydderau, Carneddau.

The weather will dictate which hills we tackle on a particular day and we won't know this until a day or so beforehand. We will need to be strategic and leave a car at one end for us to return to as the routes are largely linear.

I'll send an email around to confirm the meeting location on the first day depending on what the weather is doing and therefore which route we'll be taking. There will be a quick coffee, a gear check and we'll be off to leave 1 or 2 cars at the end point before heading round to the start. If you are happy giving lifts please let me know.

Difficulty: Level 4 - Hard & long mountain day(s). Long approach which may be over rough terrain. Several steep ascents or descents, some rough terrain (boulderfield, scree, bogs or deep heather). Possible and occasional easy ungraded rock-scrambling. You will need to be a fairly regular hill walker in different weather conditions and have a good level of fitness and stamina. Crib Goch is a narrow ridge. The Glydders have large boulders strewn everywhere. Tryfan has some tricky scrambling steps. You will need to be able to have three tough days in a row. However, if you only want to join us for one or two of the days please get in touch.

Cost: The three days guiding costs £210 per person (with a 10% discount if booking for 2-3 people, and a 15% discount for booking 4 or more). 16-18 year old's are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian. You will need to provide your own transport, accommodation and hire essential winter equipment (please see the gear list for details)

Numbers: I can take a maximum of 10 and a minimum of 4 in order to run the event. If there are fewer than the minimum numbers booked you'll get a full refund.

TO BOOK

If you want to chat to me about the adventure feel free to do so - email is a good start as I'm often out and about with limited phone reception.
If you don't like the idea of the online booking, that's fine as I can simply raise an invoice.
Simply click 'Book Now' and follow the instructions. You'll get an automated confirmation reply but I'll follow that up when I get back to civilisation to say thanks and with more detail about the trip..
Please ensure you've read the Terms and Conditions and you are aware of what you need to bring by downloading the gear list.
A quirk of the website hosting system means there are a range of ticket options (apologies about that). Please check the number you are booking for on the ticket options and ensure you request that number of tickets...
Any problems then please get in touch
