Glen Shiel Munros

Easter 2022

Easter on the Glen Shiel Munros

Shielbridge Camping & Caravan

Good Friday 15th - Easter Monday 18th April 2022

The popular Glen Shiel trip is back again having had to be cancelled in 2020 & 2021 due to Covid!

Glen Shiel is famous for it's battles with the Jacobite rising. It's also famous for being the Road to the Isles, absolutely stunning and having no fewer than 22 Munros on offer including the magnificent South Glen Shiel Ridge with 7 Munros baggable in a day.

This will be the aim for the weekend but there are so many more hills to explore depending on the weather and conditions.

We'll have the big day on the Saturday and have a shorter day Friday/Monday or possibly an excursion as a rest day.

Possible Mountains:

The South Glen Shiel Ridge: A magnificent ridge over 24km with 1,828m ascent and 7 Munros

The Forcan Ridge: A classic easy scramble (which can be bypassed) with 2 Munros

The 5 Sisters of Kintail - 16km with 1,524m ascent and 3 Munros

A shorter option is Beinn Sgritheall (974m)

Meeting Point:

09:00am Shielbridge Camping & Caravan Park, Shiel Bridge, Kyle of Lochalsh, Glenshiel IV40 8HW

To view the start point on Google Maps, please click here. This will open in a separate tab.

Difficulty: Walks will really depend on what people want to do and how much experience people have. You will need to be fit to be able to tackle the Munros here - there are no easy Munros. It's an 'all or nothing' place. We will be covering long distances with repeated ascent/descent over rough ground. There may be short sections of easy scrambling. It isn't so much about speed but being able to keep going.

Cost: The Easter Break mini holiday with guiding costs only £295 per person (if booking for one person) or £265.50 each if booking for 2-3 people, or £250.75 each if booking 4 people or more. 16-18 year old's are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian. You will need to provide your own transport and accommodation.

Numbers: I can take a maximum of 8 and a minimum of 2 in order to run the event. If there are fewer than the minimum numbers booked you'll get a full refund. If you want to book for more than 8, please get in touch.

We've had some amazing trips in the past and here are some of the pictures to inspire you!

Had a fantastic weekend in Scotland around Glen Sheil, an absolutely awe inspiring experience of a few Scottish Munro's, and the weather it can throw at you.

Watching weather systems move in towards you and pass by, pushing through and achieving the spectacular views that open up as you reach the peaks is breathtaking!

Thanks to Fabian AFS Mountaineering, passing on unprecedented knowledge of the region and skills that we can take away giving greater confidence on the hills/mountains/Munro's... and keeping us absolutely motivated when the going was tough!

Had an amazing time while clocking another digit on the old age...

Now to start the list to tick them off...A new Challenge Begins!

Guided Trips - Frequently asked questions

Is this suitable for me?

You will need to be fit and have some walking experience. Some of the walks are longer than others and they are often off tracks and there are rocky sections. It could be snowy underfoot or boggy depending! Glen Shiel is a bit 'all or nothing'. There are few 'short' walks. Most involve multiple Munros so it's more about endurance. I will always try and accommodate everyone but if unsure please drop me an email.

What do I need to bring?

You will need walking clothes (not cotton or jeans!), some extra layers, waterproofs, hat and gloves. You'll want to bring some food/lunch which you can easily eat. Plus some water or a thermos of tea/coffee/hot ribena. You can see the recommended kit list here. If it's winter conditions I'll advise beforehand when I know what the weather is doing. If the weather is too dangerous to go high we may travel inland to find alternative lower level walks. I can never guarantee a summit.

I'm coming from further afield, where can I stay nearby?

This is up to you depending on your budget. There is the famous Cluanie Inn at the top of Glen Shiel, the Travellers Lodge in the middle of the car park of the Kintail Lodge. There is also the Shielbridge Caravan Park and Campsite.

What's not included?

Accommodation (if applicable), Food, Personal Insurance, Personal equipment, Transport

How much is the trip and how do I book?

The guided walks for the weekend costs £295 per person with discounts for multiple bookings. To book please see below. Please ensure you have read the Terms and Conditions.

I've got some more general questions...

Please see the General FAQ section by clicking the link here. If you've still got questions then please get in touch!

How do I get there?

If you're not driving, there are Citylink buses from Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Alternatively it may be possible to arrange to pick you up en route. If you are willing to offer a lift please let me know.

If you want to chat to me about the event feel free to do so - email is a good start as I'm often out and about with limited phone reception.
If you don't like the idea of the online booking or would prefer to pay a 10% deposit for now, that's fine as I can simply raise an invoice. Please note that this has an additional £5 non-refundable administration fee.
Simply click 'Book Now' and follow the instructions. You'll get an automated confirmation reply but I'll follow that up when I get back to civilisation to say thanks and with more detail about the Adventure.
Please ensure you've read the Terms and Conditions and you are aware of what you need to bring by downloading the gear list.
A quirk of the website hosting system means there are a range of ticket options (apologies about that). Please check the number you are booking for on the ticket options and ensure you request that number of tickets...
Any problems then please get in touch
