Ben Vorlich & Stuic a' Chroin - Munro Beginner Day

Saturday 29th June 2024

Slide1.png
About the event:

These twin Munros are amongst the most accessible and prominent from Scotland’s central belt. They are accessible from Loch Earn and Lochearnhead.

This day will be perfect for anyone who wants company and a guide for these Munros. It will also be perfect for those who are new to hillwalking or new to the Munros in particular. It's optional, but we will be offering a 30 min 'what and how to pack a rucksack' zoom for those who request it at booking as well as going through other gear a week beforehand.

We will approach these from Loch Earn on good paths. These summits boast breath taking views across Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. We will take the easiest route up to Stuic a Chroin, with some very easy scrambling to get new folks used to a range of terrain types that the Munros can throw at us!

Your guide and instructor for the day will be Nav and you can read about him here.

Meeting Point:

We will meet at Ardvorlich. This is a single track road with quite eroded lay-bys as we get close to the starting point. Please find a suitable spot to park (not blocking the road or anyone's drive way) and go and meet Nav who will be your guide at the agreed spot.

To see the start point in Google Maps, please click this link here. Please note this will open in a new tab.

Difficulty:

This is a level 2 walk - longer and easier hill walk. We'll be using very well constructed tracks lower down which get a little rougher higher up. There is a simple scramble onto the summit of the second Munro which can be bypassed if the group are struggling. The tracks get less even as we get higher up.

The total stats for the day are: 14.5km (9 miles) with 1,145m (3,757ft) ascent.

Prerequisites:

Some basic and recent hill walking experience. If in doubt, please get in touch. This is a very easy hill walk for even mountain newbies!

Cost:

The day costs just £36 per person including a zoom call to chat through gear for those who want it. There are discounts for booking friends and family to join you!

Numbers:

We can take a maximum of 10 and a minimum of 4

Equipment:

Please see the All Activities section of the kit list here.
