The Skye Cuillin Munros

Please enquire about dates

About the event:

The Skye munros are the most difficult munros in Scotland and often the terror for the Munro Bagger. But they must be done in order to complete (or compleat as is tradition).

11 of 12 are situated along the technically-demanding and exposed Cuillin ridge, with the 12th, Bla Bheinn, outlying a short distance away.

We can offer single days out on the ridge to bag a few Munros here or there through to a full traverse over 5 days including the prized Inaccessible Pinnacle (Sgurr Dearg) and Bla Bheinn via the Clach Glas traverse.

Much of the Cuillin ridge involves sections of lengthy scrambling on serious terrain, so a good head for heights and fitness level is necessary. Previous roped-climbing experience is preferable, however not essential. As with any objective on Skye, the weather is a factor, but rest-assured that you'll be in very experienced hands.

Your guide for the main ridge will be Alex Kay, a highly experienced Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor. You can read about him here.

You can book the full traverse below but if you would like one or more days please get in touch to arrange dates and an itinerary. Likewise if you would like different dates, please get in touch. We can't guarantee it, but we have a few others in reserve!

Meeting Point:

You'll be meeting Alex in different areas of the Cuillins depending on the objective. It's likely you'll meet at Glenbrittle Campsite, The Sligachan and way around toward Broadford for Bla Bheinn. This list is not exhaustive and Alex will be in touch with you nearer the time with an exact location.

Please click on the links to see where they are in Google Maps.

Difficulty:

These are extremely tough Munros. The Inaccessible Pinnacle is often the most feared but elsewhere on the ridge you have constant exposure to deal with, scrambles and down climbs. It can be mentally exhausting. Alex will take good care of you as an experienced Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor.

Cost:

For one person, one day costs £290 and for two people the day costs £230.

For one person, the five guiding days costs £1,400 and for two people the five days guiding costs £1,540. You have the option to pay a deposit to secure your place.

We appreciate these are big costs but the ridge is a serious undertaking and we'll kit you out with a helmet and harness and we'll have a range of protective climbing gear and ropes. If you'd like two or three days, please get in touch. We are transparent about pricing!

Numbers:

Alex can only take a MAXIMUM of 2 on a rope to manage you safely and provide you with a quality experience.

Equipment:

Please see the All Activities section of the gear you'll need. We can provide harnesses and helmets but you will need solid boots (B1, B2 rated boots).
