New Year's Day 2020 Social Guided Walk

-

Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales

1st January 2020, 10:00-16:00

ABOUT THE TRIP

Come and welcome the new year in with style! Dust the Christmas cobwebs off and join me on a social guided walk up Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales National Park from Ribblehead! If conditions, weather and time allow we'll take in Whernside too!

We'll take the lesser used route up over Park Fell and Simon Fell and back again.

New Year's Day 2019 was spectacular and if you want some inspiration you can read about it here.

Mountains:

Ingleborough (723m / 2,372ft)

[Whernside (736m / 2,415ft)]

Meeting Point:

10:00am at the Ribblehead Car Park (junction of Gauber Road and the B6255) near Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

To view the start point on Google Maps, please click here. This will open in a separate tab.

Difficulty: Level 2 - Longer, easy hill walks. The walk is 13.7km / 8.5 miles with a total ascent of 507m / 1,663ft.

If we include Whernside and potential sunset photos, the walk is 22km / 13.7 miles with 1,031m / 3,383ft. But this will depend entirely on the conditions and only if every person in the group wants to.

There are generally good paths along the route. Given the time of year the weather and ground conditions could be doing anything.

Cost: The trip costs £20 per person. Under 18s and dogs are welcome so long as they are accompanied by their parent/guardian!

Numbers: I can take a maximum of 10 (excluding dogs!) and a minimum of 2.

Guided Trips - Frequently asked questions

Is this suitable for me?

The walk will be suitable for anyone with some basic walking fitness. It's a social day out. It isn't an army march and we will go as far as people want on the day and that may depend on the prevailing weather and ground conditions. I will always try and accommodate everyone but if unsure please drop me an email. You are welcome to bring the kids and well behaved dogs!

What do I need to bring?

You will need basic walking clothes (not cotton or jeans!), some extra layers, waterproofs, hat and gloves. You'll want to bring some food/lunch which you can easily eat. Plus some water or a thermos of tea/coffee/hot ribena. You can see the recommended kit list here This is just a day walk and winter mountaineering equipment isn't likely to be need. If there is snow at the top it may just add to the day's enjoyment!

I'm coming from further afield, where can I stay nearby?

This is up to you depending on your budget. It may be difficult given it's over New Year (and expensive). But there is accommodation in Horton-in-Ribblesdale and nearby Settle.

What's not included?

Accommodation (if applicable), Food, Personal Insurance, Personal equipment, Transport

How much is the trip and how do I book?
