21:00 31st December 2020 - 02:00 1st January 2021

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Come and welcome the new year in with style! Dust the Christmas cobwebs off and join me on a social guided walk up Skiddaw in the Lake District National Park!

It's fair to say that 2020 has been a difficult year. So let's do something different this new year's eve and see in 2021 from the summit of Skiddaw in the Lake District. This will be perfect for those looking to do something special, for family groups, friends and whoever is fed up of the usual new year's eve routine! We'll have some prosecco for everyone and some hot Ribena for the drivers/non-drinkers But you are welcome to bring your own.

Meeting Point:

21:00 (9pm) at the UnderSkiddaw Car Park near Keswick.

To view the start point on Google Maps, please click here. This will open in a separate tab.

Difficulty: The walk up and down is 9.6km / 6 miles in total with an ascent of 641m / 2,103ft. There is a very good track that we will follow. It is a mountain track so good sturdy walking boots will be essential as well as very warm clothing. The kit list is here. Normal non-winter skills kit will be fine. Just bring extra warm layers for when we are at the summit waiting for the clock to chime!

Cost: The trip costs £75 per person. Under 18s and dogs are welcome so long as they are accompanied by their parent/guardian. Under 18's are £40.

A family of 4 (2 adults / 2 kids) is discounted to £180. To book just click 'book now' and select the family ticket.

Numbers: I can take a maximum of 24 (well behaved dogs don't count!) and a minimum of 2.

Guides: There will be two guides - Fabian Seymour and Alex Fradley

Guided Trips - Frequently asked questions

Is this suitable for me?

The walk will be suitable for anyone with some basic walking fitness. It's a social evening out. It isn't an army march. I will always try and accommodate everyone but if unsure please drop me an email. You are welcome to bring the kids and well behaved dogs!

What do I need to bring?

You will need basic walking clothes (not cotton or jeans!), some extra layers, waterproofs, hat and gloves. Plus some water or a thermos of tea/coffee/hot ribena or some champagne for the summit! You can see the recommended kit list here This is just an evening walk and winter mountaineering equipment isn't likely to be need. If there is snow at the top it may just add to the enjoyment!

I'm coming from further afield, where can I stay nearby?

This is up to you depending on your budget. It may be difficult given it's over New Year (and expensive). But there is accommodation in Keswick and surrounding villages.

What's not included?
