North Glen Carron Munros

The North Glen Carron Munros
Sgorr Ruadh & Beinn Liath Mhor - Saturday 26th March 2022
Maol Chean-dearg - Sunday 27th March 2022
ABOUT THE EVENT
I'm often asked which is my favourite Munro. The truth is I don't have one. The weather, season, company etc can all have an effect on your enjoyment of any particular Munro. However, one of my favourite circuits is Beinn Liath Mor and Sgorr Ruadh from Glen Carron. The Munros themselves are spectacularly diverse both in vegetation and rock type with their own challenges which by themselves gives a truly rewarding and full day out.
Sgorr Ruadh approach takes you through a maze of lumps, bumps and squelchy ground. Descending to the first col involves a few steep and rough sections and then a scramble up to get around a lump which separates these two magnificent mountains.
Beinn Liath Mhor is absolutely sublime. It glows in the right light. A wonderful undulating ridge takes you back with two further lower summits. On a good day you have the entire panorama of the Torridon giants that dominate the views North - Beinn Alligin, Liathach and Beinn Eighe.
What's even better is you can get the train directly to Achnashellach Station where the walk starts.
The third Munro - Maol Chean-dearg sits apart from these two and is perhaps more Torridonian in character - far rockier than the more eastern pair. The approach is far more alpine and can be wonderful in spring on a good day.
Sgorr Ruadh (962m / 3,156ft) and Beinn Liath Mhor (926m / 3,038ft). Total distance 14km (8.7 miles) , 1,140m (3,740ft) ascent.
Maol Chean-dearg (933m / 3,061ft). Total distance 13km (8 miles), 910m (2,986ft) ascent
09:00 at Achnashellach Station.
To see the approximate start point in Google Maps, please see here (opens in a new tab).
Difficulty: There are good paths throughout the area and although they are not long days - technically straight forward with only one or two sections requiring hands, they are worth savouring!
Cost: The trip costs £180 per person for the two days (with discounts for bulk booking). Under 18s are welcome so long as they are accompanied by their parent/guardian.
Numbers: I can take a maximum of 8 and a minimum of 2.

I've got some more general questions...
How do I get there?
These Munros are remote. However there is a station at the start of one of the days (Achnashellach). There is a good road link from Inverness.
If you want to chat to me about the event then please feel free to do so - email is a good start as I'm often out and about with limited phone reception.
If you don't like the idea of the online booking or would prefer to pay a 10% deposit for now, that's fine as I can simply raise an invoice. Please note that this has an additional £5 non-refundable administration fee.
Or simply click 'Book Now' and follow the instructions. You'll get an automated confirmation reply but I'll follow that up when I get back to civilisation to say thanks and with more detail about the event.
