Scafell Pike - England's Highest Mountain
July 2022

Scafell Pike Days Out

Climb England's highest mountain!

Saturday 30th or Sunday 31st July 2022

At 978m (3,208ft) above sea level, Scafell Pike is England's highest mountain in the heart of the Lake District National Park. There are numerous ways to walk up Scafell Pike. The most common is from Wasdale but this route is a brutal slog. There are some other amazing routes which are overlooked for being slightly longer.

Most importantly we also have a pub to dive into at the end!

Meeting Point:

09:00am at the Wasdale Head car park (this is NOT the National Trust car park!).

To view the start point on Google Maps, please click here. This will open in a separate tab.

DifficultyThe approximate total distance & ascent is 22km / 13.5 miles distance and 1,610m / 5,282ft ascent. There is a good track although it can be steep in places. The walk is shorter with less ascent if we miss out the other Wainwrights en route.

Cost: The guided walk up Scafell Pike is £49 per person with discounts for booking for more than one person. 16-18 year old's are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian. You will need to provide your own transport and accommodation.

Numbers: I can take a maximum of 10 and a minimum of 4 in order to run the events. If there are fewer than the minimum numbers booked you'll get a full refund. Under 18s are welcome as long as the legal parent or guardian comes too. If you have a large group (as sometimes happens) please get in touch about booking more than 6 as that's all the online booking has been set up for (in terms of discounts!)

Guided Trips - Frequently asked questions

Is this suitable for me?

You will need to be fit and have some walking experience. The track is relatively popular but the weather could be doing anything and the Lakeland hills are famous for being steep. We're not going to be going at an army march pace but more leisurely to enjoy the day. I will always try and accommodate everyone but if unsure please drop me an email.

What do I need to bring?

You will need all of the essential kit. You can see the recommended kit list here.

I'm coming from further afield, where can I stay nearby?

This is up to you depending on your budget. There are an enormous range of hotels, bunkhouses, hostels, campsites and B&Bs in and around Wasdale. You can also look around Gosforth and Nether Wasdale.

What's not included?

Accommodation (if applicable), Food, Personal Insurance, Personal equipment, Transport
