The Torridon Giants - Munro Bagging
Saturday 14th - Monday 16th August 2021
ABOUT THE TRIP
There are a few epic ranges on the mainland of Scotland. And the Torridon Range is one of them.
Everything is eerie and mysterious about the Torridon Munros. Torridonian Sandstone is ancient. Among the most ancient rock groups in Britain.
Even the widespread lichen Rhizocarpon geographicum - easily spotted by it's bright green and black spotted thallus is turned purple here.
When you first see Liathach from the winding single track road between Kinlochewe and Torridon, it captures the eye. A wall. A fortress. Impenetrable. How do you even get there??
Well there are faint paths leading up the three giants: Beinn Eighe, Liathach and Beinn Alligin. A few weaknesses in their mighty armour. Once up, there are two Munros on each and a whole host of Munro tops (of Munro height but deemed to be too close to their parent summit to be a Munro in their own right).
On Liathach there are knife edge ridges, pinnacles and steep drops. A bypass track largely misses out the pinnacles but in places even this is not for the faint hearted. Beinn Alligin has the three Horns of Alligin.
But once you've made it to the ridges, they are wonderful days to just explore, experience, see and touch.
The Torridon giants are ancient! Although most hover just below 1,000m what they lack in height they make up for in stature.
Beinn Alligin: Tom na Gruagaich (922m / 3,025ft) & Sgurr Mor (986m / 3,235ft)
Liathach: Spidean a' Choire Leith (1,055m / 3,461ft) & Mullach an Rathain (1,023m / 3,356ft)
Beinn Eighe: Spidean Coire nan Clach (977m / 3,205ft) & Ruach-stac Mor (1,010m / 3,314ft)

Difficulty: These are big and challenging hills and will require good fitness and a head for heights. There is easy scrambling on all of the giants. There are relatively good tracks throughout the area though some are steep and the bypass tracks still need a head for heights.
Cost: The three days guiding costs £295 per person (if booking for one person), £265.50 each if booking for 2-3 people or £250.75 each if booking for 4 or more. 16-18 year old's are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian. You will need to provide your own transport and accommodation
Numbers: I can take a maximum of 12 and a minimum of 4 for the trip to proceed. If there are fewer than the minimum numbers you will be offered a full refund.
For some inspiration have a look at some previous trips!
The confidence of having a professional with us enabled us to complete a magnificent walk which we'd probably otherwise have turned back from. Fabian stayed friendly throughout and was brilliantly patient, calm and helpful. He went out of his way to help my mum with the difficult sections and calmly advise her about how to scramble safely.

What are the Terms & Conditions?
I've got some more general questions...
How do I get there?
There is almost no public transport this far north off the beaten track. If you are not driving you can get as far as Achnasheen by train or bus. A taxi will take you to your accommodation.
If you want to chat to me about the adventure feel free to do so - email is a good start as I'm often out and about with limited phone reception.
If you don't like the idea of the online booking or would prefer to pay a 10% deposit for now, that's fine as I can simply raise an invoice. Please note that this has an additional £5 non-refundable administration fee.
Or simply click 'Book Now' and follow the instructions. You'll get an automated confirmation reply but I'll follow that up when I get back to civilisation to say thanks and with more detail about the trip.
Please ensure you've read the Terms and Conditions and you are aware of what you need to bring by downloading the gear list.
A quirk of the website hosting system means there are a range of ticket options (apologies about that). Please check the number you are booking for on the ticket options and ensure you request that number of tickets...
