Where is the Event?
Located on the south-western edge of the North York Moors National Park, is the Kilburn White Horse. Surrounded by ancient woodlands and with fantastic viewing opportunities at the top, its a great spot to do this event.
It can be easily reached from Thirsk, York, Harrogate, Northallerton.
About the evening
The Geminids meteor shower is one of the most spectacular, producing up to 100 meteors an hour at their peak. Known for their multi-coloured tails of white, yellow, green, red and blue, and the odd fireball, it can be quite a display!
Of course we can't guarantee we'll see it quite like this!
But heading out in the dark is especially magical, particularly in the lead-up to Christmas. Everything glistens — sparkling village lights below, beads of water droplets on leaves and cobwebs in torchlight. Coupled with taking you on a night walk, dark skies experience that'll uplift and reconnect you to the universe, you may even feel a sense of awe and wonder.
During this evening you’ll learn about planet earth, the night sky and deep time. We’ll also show you some simple, secret techniques that bring you to this present moment, so you discover so much more.
Please note, we can't guarantee the weather, but even if it's cloudy, scientists have now proved embracing the dark is good for the soul and strangely calming too.
Perfect before you get tied up in the busyness of Christmas!
PLEASE NOTE - We can run these evenings for bespoke groups. If you are interested in this then please contact both myself and Alison to discuss dates.
Meeting Point:
We meet at the White Horse of Kilburn Lower Car Park at 6:15 ready to set off at 6:30pm.

Difficulty:
Although the walk is only (around) 4 miles long and mainly on footpaths, there are sections of mud and very rough ground in places. Please note, there are steep hills - including one section that is particularly long and steep heading up to the plateau, plus lots of steep, uneven steps back down to the car park.
Prerequisites:
For your comfort, a good level of fitness will be needed for this activity.
Cost:
The evening experience costs £30.39 per person (this includes the £1.39 online booking fee)
Numbers:
We can take a maximum of 12
Equipment:
Please see the All Activities section of the kit list here. Walking poles are recommended for those who may find walking at night.
You will also need a headtorch with new or fully recharged batteries - one between two will not be sufficient. It's worth having a spare / back-up headtorch too.
Please note that a hand-held torch is not appropriate.
We'll be turning the headtorches on and off regularly - please ensure that you are familiar with using your headtorch.
