Without Fabian`s help I would not had the confidence to climb Liathach and An Teallach. He makes sure the group are walking at a steady pace, stopping when needed. You feel comfortable and safe when climbing with Fabian.
If you need a guide Fabian is the man to go to.

Excellent Fabian is a brilliant guide visibility in Strathfarar was poor but I felt safe at all times 👍Conditions were tricky but Fabian on each of the four mountains made the right decisions 👍He is a very interesting and has a great sense of humour so it was a serious mountain day but we did have interesting conversation and at times a good laugh👍Finally I’m not the quickest but Fabian kept a steady pace and we successfully completed the Strathfarrar four Thankyou Fabian 👍

Incredible 360 degree views from Ben Klibreck - Orkney was clearly visible in the distance. Fabian encouraged me throughout and that got me through the final ascent, when l wasn’t sure l had it in my legs. The photo doesn’t not do the epic landscape justice - you just had to be there! I do not hesitate to recommend Fabian as a guide, super professional with some fun chat thrown in to make a wonderful experience even more memorable!

Absoloutely great experience! Really nice to be able to brush up on some skills I had not used in years, and an excellent introduction to skills that I learnt throughout the weekend.

Great experience bagging Munros at Glenshee guided by Fabian.

The weather conditions were windy and changeable with the potential for electrical storms. I felt very safe as Fabian was checking conditions and planning alternative routes depending on how the weather developed.

Without an experienced guide l would have been too nervous to walk today. Thanks to Fabian l had a great experience, bagged three Munros and dare l say it - might have even caught the Munro bagging bug!

Two fabulous days near Loch Monar. Both were long days in hot weather and Fabian's experience in pace management together with sharing an accurate overview of the routes and challenges was invaluable. A lovely group of fellow walkers too. Thoroughly recommend.

I recently completed the Torridon Giants (6 Munros in 3 days) with Fabian and it was a fantastic experience. The scenery in Torridon is simply breathtakingly beautiful and to spend 3 days with clear views was an unforgettable experience. Fabian explained the planned route for the day each morning, asked for our feedback then we set off at a pace suitable for the group. The Torridon Munros involved some scrambling, but Fabian coached us through the process and also encouraged us to go out of our comfort zones and try new routes (you never know when you are going to get an unexpected alternative view of the mountain). The booking and logistics of the walk were excellent, which also involved a last minute change in date due to wintry weather on the original date (all rearranged without any hassle). I would highly recommend AFS Mountaineering and will definitely be using in the future !!

I was looking for an experienced navigation instructor reasonable close to me in Newcastle, and i happened across Fabian at AFS Mountaineering, so i had a look on his website, facebook page, read reviews etc etc and decided to make contact, he contacted me back very quickly considering what he does for a living, we exchanged a few emails and i arranged to book the NNAS Tutor award, I found Fabian to be well beyond what i had hoped for, having a PhD i knew he would have looked into the fine details of what he does for a living and able to put it across in a nice easy methodical way, i wasn't disappointed.
Subsequently i have booked him for 2 private guides and a nav revision day which was totally tailored to suit my individual needs.
I will definitely be using Fabian for the foreseeable future on guides in the Munros and winter training courses when i get that far.
Take my word for it, look no further you have found what you are looking for in an instructor.
